PORTSMOUTH — One of the biggest races of the year at Portsmouth Raceway Park is coming up this Saturday night.

The 20th Annual Fred Dillow Memorial Race, honoring Coal Grove’s Fred Dillow, is a favorite of both drivers and fans.

Dillow raced at local dirt tracks from 1968 to 1989 and passed away of leukemia in 1990.

In 1995, the first Fred Dillow Memorial was held and it has grown tremendously over the years.

This year, the Holliday’s Quik Stop/Rock Camp Motocross Late Model Feature pays $5,000 to win.

The Tri State Industrial Supply Modified Feature pays $1,000 to win, the Giovanni’s Wholesale Limited Late Model Feature pays $830 to win, and the H&H Continuous Guttering/B&L Exhaust Bomber Feature pays $600 to win plus there are bonus cash in all four divisions.

Some of the special awards for late models that will be given at this race include Bozo’s Just Give Me One Lap paying $1,077 for late model fast time, Impact RaceGear late model heats paying $83 to win, the Roger Salyers Late Model Hard Charger paying $200, the Ryan Pfunk Potter Late Model Halfway Leader Award pays $800, and the Sgt Tim Moore Late Model Dash paying $233 to win sponsored by Graphic Impressions.

Racers In Christ and Carter Resources have added $500 to the late model B-Main that will be divided among non-transfer positions.

Some of the other bonuses include the Modified Hard Charger in memory of Linda Walker, the H&H Continuous Guttering Limited Late Model Hard Charger and the Stephens Towing & Repo Bomber Hard Charger paying $100, the $100 Modified Fast Time, sponsored by Whitley Gahm & Rayburn, and the Ryan Pfunk Potter Modified Halfway Leader Award pays $300.

Gates open at 4 p.m. Drivers’ meeting begins at 6 p.m. with hot laps starting at 6:30 and racing at 7:30.

General admission is $12 for ages 16 and up, $10 for ages 7-15, and free to six and under.

All pit passes are $25.
