Ironton golfers down South Point

LAVALETTE, W.Va. — Ironton proved being in your 40s is a good thing.
The Fighting Tigers had three players put up scores in the 40s as they posted a 195-team score to beat the South Point Pointers Wednesday in a dual golf match.
Jaylen Thornhill led Ironton with a 47 to take medalist honors. Mitchell Weisgarber was one shot back at 48 and Cory Rawlins was third with a 49. Chandler Dodson posted a 51 and Mason Slagel carded a 62.
South Point had a 221 team score led by Madison Riley with a 52. Logan Wade was next with a 55 while Barbara Collins and Eddie Chinn each shot a 57.
Tyler Porter posted a 58 and Mackenzie Evans-Schweickart had an 82.
Ironton plays at Hilltop Golf Course Monday in a match that includes Portsmouth Clay, North Adams and Wheelersburg.
