Everett Martin

Everett Martin, 84, of Barboursville, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at Jo-Lin Health Center, Ironton. He was born March 25, 1930, in Wayne County, a son of the late Walter and Roma Curry Martin. He is also preceded in death by one son, Kane Martin; and two brothers, Van Martin and Sidney Martin.

He served in the United States Navy serving during Korea and Vietnam. He retired from CSX Transportation as a machinist. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his coffee drinkers at McDonalds. He is survived by one son, David Martin and his mother, Frances J. Adkins; companion of 20 years, Donna Brumfield and two grandchildren, Trevor Martin and Wesley J. Martin.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, with military graveside services. Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. David Goodwin

David Dain Goodwin, 67, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, following a brief illness with cancer and his family was present at his bedside. The Ironton native was born Feb. 16, 1947, a son of the late Charles Brooks and Florence Pierson Goodwin.

David was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and a retired machinist from National Mines. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Arnold “Junior” Hatfield, Jimmy Hatfield, and Richard Hatfield; a sister, Pauline Clay; and his former wife, Patricia Goodwin.

He is survived by two sons: Charlie Goodwin, of Cleveland and Rob (Debbie) Goodwin, of Deering; two sisters, Sharon Fields, of Deering, and Pam Hitchcock, of Coal Grove; a brother, John Goodwin, of West Union; two grandchildren, Shannon (Paige) Goodwin and Ryan Goodwin, all of Deering; and a great grandchild, Cayson Goodwin, of Deering.
