Carl Sheets

Aug. 21, 1938 — Sept. 9, 2014

Carl E. Eddie Sheets, 76, of Pedro, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at a local care facility. The Gallia County native was born Aug. 21, 1938, a son of the late George and Ruby Watson Sheets and the parents who raised him, James and Mammie Turner.

Eddie was a graduate of Waterloo High School and a former employee for the Lawrence County EMA, retiring in 1994 after 33 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Sheets and Junior Sheets; and a sister, Wanda.

He is survived by two sisters, Beulah Sheppard, of Gallia County; and a brother, Kenneth Sheets, of Ironton. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Hatfield Cemetery with pastor David Henson officiating. James France

James Walter France, 79, of Huntington, W.Va., died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. His wife, Minnie France, survives him. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today. Earl Dennison

Earl Franklin Dennison, 75, of Clayton, N.C., formerly of Proctorville, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at home. His wife, Patricia Dennison, survives him. Funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville. Visitation will be 1:30-3:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Joyce Taylor

Joyce Ann Taylor, 66, of Patriot, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at home. There will be no services. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville assisted the family with arrangements.

 

 

Willis Ratliff

Willis Ratliff, 68, of South Point, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, in Heartland of Riverview in South Point. His wife, Deborah Ohlsson Ratliff, survives him. At his request, there will be no visitation or service. Burial will follow at a later date in White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville, W.Va. Janet Smathers

Janet Ruth Smathers, 58, of Wheelersburg, died Tuesday Sept. 9, 2014, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Arrangements are pending at Brown Funeral Chapel.
