Finneytown at Coal Grove

QB: Finneytown moves WR Jordan Smith to QB while last year’s QB Bryce Butler will now be the WR.

RB: Finneytown will look to Smith, Butle and Dante Goodwin to run the ball. Goodwin ran for 808yards adn nine TDs last season.

OL: C Jake Stevens, T Jason Burstion anchor a young offensive line.

Defense: Jacob Frey and Julian Sorrells anchor the DL. The secondary is the strength of the defense led by Butler at S and CB Terry Scott and Tuner Austin.

NOTES: Ryan Bubbard takes over as head coach at Finneytown to try and improve a program that won just three games over the past two seasons.

Oak Hill at Rock Hill

QB: Oak Hill QB Clayton Christenson was 6 of 8 passing for 68 yards and an interception last week against Wheelersburg.

RB: Oak Hill relies on several players that include Willy Harris and Chris Coy. The Oaks managed 118 yards as a team in last week’s loss.

DEFENSE: NG Griffen Jenkins is a two-year starter. Travis Boyd returns at on DE with Kory Criner, Drew Turner and Zack Dalton fill out the DL. The LBs are Zach Maynard, Sean Dunn, Tyler Trisch, Elijah Starr, Cody Swann and transfer Tyler Spriggs from Jackson.

WR: Jonathon Harrison — who also plays defensive back — is the top receiver

NOTES: The Oaks opened with a 40-0 win over Chesapeake, but they were routed 54-7 last week by Wheelersburg. The Oaks beat the Redmen 38-0 last season.

Gallipolis at Fairland

QB: Kole Carter (6-0, 185) leads the Blue Devils’ run-oriented offense.

RB: Carter ran 23 times for 116 yards and a touchdown last week. RB Eli Miller had 122 yards on just eight carries while Blake Wilson ran 12 times for 70 yards and a score.

WR: Gallipolis has several targets that include Miller, Payton Halley, Eric Sheets and Seth Willis.

NOTES: The Blue Devils opened the season with a 52-0 loss to the high-power Athens Bulldogs before bouncing back last week with a 30-0 win over Chesapeake. They led just 10-0 at the half. Fairland is coming off a wild 79-69 loss at Meigs in which QB Chance Short threw for 601 yards and six touchdowns. Dylan Murphy had nine catches for 230 yards and two TDs.

Symmes Valley at Chesapeake

QB: Vikings use Derrek Smith and Payton Hayes. Chesapeake use Austin Oldaker and Caleb McComas

RB: Vikings have Tanner Mays, Brandon Craft and Smith or Hayes. Panthers have Nate Smith, Maccoy Brown and Shaden White.

DEFENSE: Vikings are led by LBs Brandon Craft, DB Tanner Mays and Collin Webb. Panthers look to LB Brad Meadows and DE’s Austin Carpenter and Maccoy Brown.

South Point at Boyd County

QB: Boyd: Cade Isaacs (5-9, 160) was 12 of 29 for 169 yards in last week’s 41-14 loss to Raceland. He also ran for 38 yards.

RB: Boyd is led by Christian Braley (5-9, 163) who doesn’t have a lot of size but has good speed.

DEFENSE: The Lions have 3-year starter Seth Caduill (5-10, 211) at linebacker. The DL has Anthony Peterman (5-10, 261), Nick Wilburn (5-10, 241), Clayton Graham (5-10, 224) and Zac Bruner (6-0 211).

NOTES: The Lions were just 1-10 last season including a 23-19 loss at South Point.

Green at Bellaire St. John

QB: Bellaire will run the spread offense behind transfer Chaice Truex (6-5, 245) who played TE at Bishop Donahue in Wheeling, W.Va. last season and Cameron Opic (5-9 185). Both can play WR.

RB: Malik FOrd (5-9, 165) and Nick Wilson (5-9, 170) lead St. John.

NOTES: Bellaire St.John was 0-10 last season has begun this year 0-2. Both teams have lost to Millersport. Jose Davis leaves Bellaire to be the new head coach at St. John.
