CANNONSBURG, Ky. — Quarterback Cade Isaacs had his hand in everything and he handed the Boyd County Lions their first win.

The Lions’ quarterback scored three touchdowns and threw for another in a 25-14 win over the South Point Pointers on Friday.

Isaacs was 10 of 18 passing for 221 yards and ran 24 times for 49 yards. The Lione had 104 yards on the ground and 325 total yards.

The Pointers (1-2) finished with 200 total yards. James Leonard ran eight times for 44 yards and quarterback Drew Adams was 11 of 25 passing for 127 yards and a touchdown.

The game was scoreless until late in the half when Isaacs ran one yard for a touchdown and it was 6-0 at the 3:47 mark. A 24-yard pass to Logen Thovson on a third-and-20 set up the scoring run.

A blocked punt gave the Lions the ball back at midfield and they scored on a 23-yard pass to Thovson with 1:34 to play in the half and it was 12-0.

Isaacs 1-yard run early in the third quarter extended the lead to 18-0.

South Point used its defense to get a score as Stephan Wagoner returned an interception 16 yards for a touchdown and Alex Whitt’s conversion kick cut the deficit to 18-7 with 7:09 left in the third quarter.

But Isaacs ran 6 yards for a touchdown less than two minutes into the fourth quarter and Zac Bruner’s kick put the lead at 25-7.

The Pointers answered with a 56-yard touchdown pass play from Adams to Wagoner with Jordan Overstreet added the extra point and they trailed 25-14 with 7:58 to play.
