Lady Fighting Tigers beat Lady Titans to continue success

The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ tennis team is making a little “racket” this season.

The Lady Tigers beat the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans 4-1 Monday and improved their team record to 5-2 on the season.

Senior captains Ariel Whitt and Danielle Ailster along with Aleigha Justice all posted wins in singles matches.

Justice and Whitt at both 6-1 on the season.

The No. 1 doubles team of Breanna Klaiber and Kara Spencer also picked up a win. The duo is now 5-2 on the season.

Ironton’s other doubles team of Kylie Barcus and Holly Bruce currently has three wins this season while Brooke Elswick has another win.

Rounding out the roster are Shyanne Wilson, Dawn Harsbarger, Rachel Sanders, and Tatyanna Vinson. Junior Cierra Thomas is a varsity alternate but became ill prior to the start of the season and has not been able to play.

Ironton is guided by head coach Ron Ross and assistant coach Glenn Metcalf.

The Ldy TIgers lays at Portsmouth on Thursday.
