Coal Grove wins tri-match at ICC

PINE GROVE — Good weather, good match.

On a day with mild temperatures, the Coal Grove Hornets won a four-team golf match on Tuesday.

Coal Grove had a 171 team score while the Ironton Fighting Tigers were just six shot back at 177.

The Hornets’ Brent Morgan claimed medalist honors with a 36. Brandon Adkins was next with a 42, Chase McKnight carded a 46 and Ryan Malone shot a 47.

Tori Holmes shot a 48 and Trevor Deere 49 to round out Coal Grove’s scoring.

Jaylen Thornhill fired a 40 to pace Ironton. Cory Rawlins was just two shots back at 42 followed by Chandler Dodson with a 46 and Mason Slagel shot a 49.

Trevor Hacker and Mitchell Weisgarber each shot a 54 for the Fighting Tigers.

Portsmouth Clay was next with a 186 score led by Taylor Swayne with a 44 and Connor Phipps 45. Aaron Phipps and Zach Phillips each shot a 47, Wyatt Large 50 and Cole Gilliland 60.

Rock Hill finished with a 192 total led by Logan Reed with a 41. Jason Haywood had a 46, Logan Barcus 49, Austin Barcus 56, Andrew Brammer 61 and Chase Nelson 65.
