GALLIPOLIS — The South Point Pointers kept shooting until they would score.

The unbeaten Pointers had plenty of shots on goal as they forced the Gallipolis goalie Caden Wilt to register 19 saves, but they managed to find the net enough to post a 3-1 in Tuesday over the Blue Devils’ soccer team.

“We had a million shots. We just couldn’t finish,” said Pointers’ coach Zane Joy. “We didn’t play bad, they played well. We kept (Gallipolis’ goalkeeper) busy, but he played well.”

South Point (8-0) took a 1-0 lead at the 5-minute mark of the first half on a penalty kick by Jordan Overstreet.

The Pointers scored again in the second half on an unassisted goal by Jake Helton at 42:00.

Gallipolis scored a minute later on an unassisted goal by Tony Eastman, but the Pointers got an insurance goal by Matt Krivan off an assist by Liam Huff at the 49-minute mark.

South Point plays at Boyd County at 6 p.m. Thursday.
