With just 94 days until Christmas the Lawrence County Young Professionals are getting ready for this year’s Secret Santa program.

“It’s almost that time,” Jessica Cornett, chair of the Lawrence County Young Professionals, said. “We are trying to get the word out early this year.”

Fundraising for the program begins on Tuesday with a spaghetti dinner at Central Christian Church at 1541 S. Seventh St. in Ironton.

The fundraiser begins at 6 p.m. and includes spaghetti, bread and dessert for $7. Children under 5 eat free.

Cornett said a few more volunteers are needed as well.

The event is sponsored by the LCYP, Central Christian Church, Citizens Deposit Bank, Meyers and Neville LLC Attorneys, City National Bank and Designs by Rymacor.

The Secret Santa program has helped provide the area’s needy children with clothes and toys for the past several years. The LCYP partners with local schools and the Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action Organization to determine which children are selected to be part of the program. The goal every year is 500 children, Cornett said.

Donations can be made via PayPal on the LCYP Facebook page or from a mobile device. Mail donations to Secret Santa, P.O. Box 488, South Point, OH 45680. Make checks payable to LEDC Secret Santa.

Founded in 2009 LCYP is a group of professionals who live and work in the Lawrence County area who come together to network, get involved and make a difference in the community.
