Kenny Friend

Kenny Friend Jr., 52, of DeCliff, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at his home. He was born May 22, 1962, in Marion, to Kenneth and Jennie R. (Besco) Friend Sr. His father is deceased and his mother survives in DeCliff.

Kenny graduated from Elgin High School in 1981. He was a sawmill operator at DIA Enterprises in DeCliff for the past six years. A true family man, the light of his life was his grandkids. He was always there for everyone, willing to lend a hand or give his smile to make you feel better. Even though sometimes his “life theories” got in the way. A claim to fame for Kenny was being the 2002 World Champion left arm wrestler. He was also an avid fan of the Arizona Cardinals.

Also surviving are three daughters, Kathryn (Katie) Friend, of LaRue, Lesa Nicole “Nikki” Friend, of California, and Brandy Lynn White, of LaRue; granddaughter, Trynadee; grandson, Brynden; sisters, Camie (Don) Laird, of Prospect, Kim (Tedd) Oldham, of Marion, and Jeanne (Todd) Clement, of Kenton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Frances Besco and Harley and Dorothy Blagg; niece, Tiffany Oldham; great-niece, Alyssa Holcomb; and great-nephew, Gaige Overly.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue. Officiating will be the Rev. Brent Layne. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Charles May

Charles Russell “Uncle” May, 82, of Kitts Hill, passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014, at a local health care facility. Charles was born Jan. 10, 1932, the son of the late Russell and Ruby Jewell Salyer May. Mr. May attended Fairview Schools, and was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of Highway Baptist in Aid.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Alla Salyer, Ersley Dust, Nelda May and Velva May.

He is survived by three sisters, Charlene Wilson, of Ironton, Vada Truesdell, of Kitts Hill, and Karen May-Dinnen, of Ironton; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Woodland Cemetery with Tim Maddy officiating. Visitation will be 12-1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

 

James Dudley

James Clifford Dudley, 77, of Proctorville, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at home. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Anderson Wyrick. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville, with funeral service to follow. Graveside service and burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Woodmere Memorial Park. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Charles Nunley

Charles R. “Chuck” Nunley, 53, of Rush, Ky., died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point.

 

 

Betty Cochran
