FRIENDSHIP — The Chesapeake Panthers must not be getting tired of winning the Ohio Valley Conference golf tournament.

The Panthers won their sixth straight OVC golf title on Friday at Shawnee Golf Course as they won the tournament by 16 strokes in the seven-team field.

Chesapeake had a 316 total followed by the Coal Grove Hornets with a 332 total.

The Portsmouth Trojans were third at 366, the Ironton Fighting Tigers were next at 370, the Fairland Dragons shot a collective 408, the South Point Pointers were at 414 and the Rock Hill Redmen finished with a 417.

The Panthers’ Shane Stevens shot a 72 to claim medalist honors while teammate Derek Lemley had 75 to finish as runner-up.

Two-time medalist Brent Morgan of Coal Grove shot a 76 and finished third overall.

Also on the All-OVC first team were Trevor Deere of Coal Grove with a 77, Ironton’s Jaylen Thornhill with an 82, and Trent Rodbell of Portsmouth with an 86.

The Honorable Mention list included Chesapeake’s Jacob Henson (84) and Jake Stevens (85), Fairland’s Hayden James (84) and Portsmouth’s Brandon Jones (86).

Chesapeake’s Terry Kimball was named the conference Coach of the Year.
