Fighting Tigers’ XC runners fair well at Rio Grande meet

RIO GRANDE — The Ironton Fighting Tigers participated in the 44th annual Rio Grande/Patty Forgey cross country invitational.

Tim Maynard had a 20:11.52 clocking to place No. 37 among 137 runners as he led all Ironton runners.

Chad Garris was No. 58 with a 21:10.94 and Joe Matkins ran a 22:34.36 to place No. 83 overall.

Next for Ironton was Connor Ramey with a 26:12.52 time followed by Cody Rawlins at 26:38.70, Logan Gleichauf 26:57.01, Austin Hammond 30:28.90 and David Cremeans had a 30:37.74.

Liberty Union was the overall team leader with 83 points followed by Williamstown, W.Va., and Marietta.

The Lady Fighting Tigers’ Brooklyn Shope ran a 26:12.67 to place No. 54 in the girls’ race.

In the middle school race, Ironton 7th grader Brittany Brown ran a 22:28.06.
