CIRCLEVILLE — The Coal Grove Hornets’ senior golfer Brent Morgan just missed another trip to the state tournament.

Morgan shot a 75 at the Division III district tournament on Monday at Pickaway Country Club and missed advancing by one shot.

The top four teams and individuals not on a qualifying team advances. Morgan was one shot behind Aaron Wood of Fisher Catholic and Brayden Baldridge of Danville.

Austin Meronoff of Steubenville Catholic shot a 71 and Nick Harmon of Madison Christian had a 72.

The Hornets finished 11th as a team with a 344 total.

Trevor Deere shot an 88, Ryan Malone 90, Chase McKnight 91 and Brandon Adkins had a 92.

Columbus Academy won the tournament with a 304 followed by Wellington School with a 311, Sugarcreek Garaway 315 and Newark Catholic 317.

In the girls’ district, the Lady Hornets Tori Holmes had a 99 to place 36th overall in the 76-player field.
