Man gets prison time over DUI

A South Point man will spend the next two years behind bars for driving under the influence.

Donald Dickess, 51, of 151 Private Drive 350, South Point, who previously pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree count of DUI, was sentenced Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court Judge D. Scott Bowling’s courtroom.

Bowling also ordered the man to pay a $2,000 fine and complete drug and alcohol treatment.

Dickess’ driver’s license was suspended for five years and he was ordered to forfeit his vehicle and a firearm that was found in the vehicle.

In other cases:

• Stacy Wilson, 33, of 802 S. Seventh St., Ironton, was arraigned on a fourth-degree count of assault on a peace officer, to which he pleaded not guilty. Bowling set bond at $20,000 own-recognizance at GPS monitoring. A pretrial was set for Oct. 15.

• Donald Ball, 84, of 76 Private Drive 2548, Ironton, who previously pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree count of possession of drugs and a misdemeanor count of DUI, was sentenced to four years community control sanctions under intensive supervised probation, 90 days in the county jail with 85 days suspended, treatment at Spectrum, 30 days home confinement and a $1,000 fine. Bowling also ordered that the man can’t drive his vehicle for 90 days.

• Zachary Almekinder, 26, of 209 Township Road 258, South Webster, was sentenced to the Septa community-based correctional facility for CCS violations.

• Jason Newcomb, 32, of 65 Private Drive 954 County Road 52, Ironton, was arraigned on a second-degree count of trafficking in drugs, to which he pleaded not guilty. Bowling set bond at $100,000 cash or surety plus $100,000 OR. A pretrial was set for Oct. 15.

• Charles Bartrum Jr., 23, of 8027 State Route 522, Pedro, pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree count of receiving stolen property, which was a 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Bowling ordered a PSI and set sentencing for Oct. 29.

• Justin Callicoat, 21, of 115 1/2 S. Sixth St., Ironton, was arraigned on a count of second-degree burglary, to which he pleaded not guilty. Bowling set bond at $100,000 cash or surety and $100,000 OR. A pretrial was set for Oct. 15.

• Timothy McComas, 29, of 88 Township Road 1027, South Point, was arraigned on a fourth-degree and a misdemeanor count of domestic violence, as well as a fifth-degree count of theft, to which he pleaded not guilty. Bowling continued bond from a lower court and added a $10,000 OR bond. A pretrial was set for Oct. 15.

• Mary Nagle, 28, of 1062 Turkey Foot Road, Wheelersburg, pleaded guilty to three fifth-degree counts of theft. Bowling ordered a PSI and set sentencing for Oct. 15.

• Herman Dement, 35, of 2012 County Road 107, Chesapeake, pleaded guilty to a fourth-degree count of domestic violence. Bowling sentenced the man to 17 months in prison.

• Thomas Ellis, 23, homeless, was arraigned on a bill of information of fifth-degree failure to register as a sex offender, to which he pleaded guilty. Bowling sentenced the man to six months in prison.

• Jonathan Cole, 36, of 448 Township Road 1105 Proctorville, who previously pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree count of attempt to disseminate matter harmful to juveniles, was sentenced to four year CCS/ISP, 200 hours of community service and was ordered to complete a program at a community based correctional facility.

• Christopher Collins, 29, of Route 2 Box 263 Barkers Ridge, Ona, West Virginia, admitted CCS violations and was sentenced to seven months in prison.
