UCF beats BYU in OT

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Justin Holman threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to running back William Stanback on the first possession of overtime and UCF beat BYU 31-24 on Thursday night after overcoming a 14-point deficit in the second half.

Christian Stewart’s fourth-down pass for BYU fell incomplete in the end zone to end the game.

Stanback added a rushing touchdown. Holman was 30 of 51 for a career-high 326 yards and threw two scoring passes.

In his first start, Stewart struggled early, but recovered to go 22 for 37 for 153 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.

The Knights (3-2) took an early first-half lead before falling into a 24-10 hole in the third quarter.

BYU (4-2) scored 21 straight points to take a 24-10 lead early in the third quarter. UCF was able to answer with a pair of touchdowns to tie it.
