Another facet to Farmers Market

This Saturday the Lawrence County Bicycle Giveaway Street Fair will take place adjacent to the Ironton Farmers Market.

The Street Fair is from 1-5 p.m. on Bobby Bare Boulevard and features live gospel bands, inflatables, a car show, crafts, an auction for an ATV raffle for $5 per ticket and more. The goal this year is buying 350 bikes to giveaway to children at Christmas. John Dickess, of Dickess Auto Repair, and Don Schwartz, manager of Advance Auto Parts, are the organizers of the giveaway.

Also on farmers market Saturdays across the street at the Transit building the Senior Craft Store is open 9 a.m.-noon. The Transit Cafe is open 7 a.m.-noon and serves breakfast and lunch items.

“Spend your morning and enjoy the friendly atmosphere at the market, the Craft Store and the café,” Sam Heighton, market manager, said. “They have great coffee.”

The Farmers Market is open 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday and Saturday and is fully stocked with fall items. Some summer produce is still available.

Home made baked goods including cream horns, homemade candy, pies, bread, cookies and honey is available. The Ironton Farmers Market is a project of Ironton aLive and is sponsored by our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. For vendor information, call Heighton at 740-533-7951.
