Fire levy renewal important for township
It is now close to election time. I am writing this letter to inform and remind the citizens of Lawrence Township that it is time to renew our fire levy.
All money from this levy is spent for operational expenses and to replace and purchase new equipment. None of the members of the department receive any compensation or even repayment of personal expenses.
The levy is a renewal which must be approved by the voters every five years and will not increase taxes. This levy must be renewed in order for our department to maintain our current level of service to our community.
We will also be able to maintain our current fire service ISO rating, which reduces fire insurance costs for the residents of Lawrence Township.
