Lori Johnson

Jan. 17, 1963 — Nov. 5, 2014

Lori Duvene Johnson, 51, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014. The Ironton native was born Jan. 17, 1963, a daughter of the late Carl R. and Willa Jean Johnson.

Lori was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and was a former LPN for Sunset Nursing Center in Coal Grove. She was a member of the Prophetic Miracle Ministries in Huntington and an avid member of the ASPCA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Keith Johnson.

She is survived by two brothers, Carl Ronald Johnson, of Spencerville, and Terry Michael Johnson, of Knoxville, Tennessee; two sisters, Shelia Marie Walls and Karla Jean Johnson, both of Ironton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gary Bowman

July 6, 1946 — Nov. 5, 2014

Gary Lee Bowman Sr., 68, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. The Lawrence County native was born July 6, 1946, a son of the late Willard and Helen Joseph Bowman. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Graham Bowman.

Gary attended Rock Hill High School and was a former truck driver for the C.J. Hughes Trucking Company, retiring in 2012. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR and was of the Protestant faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Bowman Jr.; a brother, Billy Bowman; and two grandchildren, Stephen Bowman and Jessica Bowman.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Richard Bowman, of Portsmouth, and Mack Bowman, of Ironton; a daughter, Trina Bowman, of Ironton; two sisters, Mary Lavendar, of Kitts Hill, and Genny Neal, of Ironton; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Mark Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Hecla Cemetery and visitation will be from noon until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Ilene Copley

Ilene Copley, 77, of Chesapeake, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, at Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Davenport, Florida. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point. Betty Clark

Nov. 23, 1933 — Oct. 21, 2014

Betty L. Clark, 80, of Galion, passed away Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, at her son’s residence surrounded by her family.

She was born Nov. 23, 1933, in Richmond, Virginia, and was the daughter of George and Violet (Odell) Hepner.

Betty is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jimmy Clark; children, Dianna (Danny) Forrer, of Fitzpatrick, Alabama, Debbie (Joseph) Darman, of Coldsprings, New York, Tom (Lisa) Lloyd, of Richmond, and Ron (Kim) Lloyd, of Galion; eight grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Betty was a former member of the Galion Boosters Club and loved playing bingo, traveling, dancing to county music and doing anything for her family.

There will be no services.

Elizabeth Mittendorf

Jan. 6, 1956 — Nov. 4, 2014

Elizabeth Jane Mittendorf, 58, of Ironton, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. She was born Jan. 6, 1956, the daughter of the late Anthony R. and Betty Lambert Acquista.

She was a member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church.

She was the wife of Rusty Mittendorf and the mother of Sarah Mittendorf and Chris Mittendorf, both of Ironton. She is also survived by two sisters, Karen Barron and Jean (Jerry) Gibson, of South Point.

Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with Father David Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and donations are requested to be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

 

Phillip Meadows

Phillip Edward Meadows, 69, of Smithfield, Kentucky, formerly of Ashland and Kitts Hill, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Baptist Hospital NE in La Grange, Kentucky. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point with pastor Jim Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetery in Kitts Hill. Kenneth L. Fosson, 82, husband of Loretta Myers Fosson, of Ashland, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Arrangements are pending O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home.
