St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ironton is getting ready for its holiday season of giving, starting with signups for its annual Christmas with Dignity.
This year marks the 11th year for the food giveaway, which fed about 650 families last Christmas, according to Jeannine Tordiff, organizer.
“We’re going to try again this year for 650,” she said.
The food giveaway will be Saturday, Dec. 6, but those who want to take advantage of the program must register in advance.
Registration starts Monday in the church’s education wing. Times are as follows: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and 4-7p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
Those who wish to receive a box of food must bring identification with their address to the registration.
The food, delivered from Lutheran Social Services Mobile Food Pantry, is enough to feed a family for a week, Tordiff said, and includes items such as frozen meats, fruit and vegetables, fresh fruits and vegetables, breads and other baked items and boxed foods.
“You have to sign up to get anything on the 6th,” Tordiff said.
At registration, organizers will also need to know how many people are in each household, but there are no income requirements to receive food.
