Michael Pemberton

Feb. 7, 1961-Nov. 7, 2014

Michael Lee Pemberton, 53, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at the University of Cincinnati Hospital. The Lawrence County native was born Feb. 7, 1961, a son of the late Elmer  Pemberton and Pearl Cochran Bryant.

Mr. Pemberton attended Ironton High School.

He is survived by two sisters, Pam Mayo of Ashland, Kentucky, and Cathy Spears of Ironton; two brothers, Bill Pemberton of Ironton and David Pemberton of Westwood, Kentucky; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry Preston

Oct. 27, 1971-Nov. 6, 2014

Jerry Lee Preston, 43, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born Oct. 27, 1971, in Lawrence County to Teresa Ratliff Moretto of Ironton and the late Elmer Preston, Jr.

Jerry attended Ironton High School and was of the Baptist faith. He loved gardening, working outdoors, spending time with his family and helping others. He also enjoyed building models.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Elmer and Rebecca Newsome Preston and Emerson and Joann Stewart Ratliff.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Melissa (Nobel) Bowman of Louisa, Kentucky; three brothers, Billy (Chrystal) Moretto of South Point, Dwight Moretto and Andy Moretto, both of Ironton; two nieces, Merissa Bowman and Joann (Andrew) Waldroff, both of Louisa.; and two nephews, Blake Moretto of Coal Grove and Avery Bowman of Louisa.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Melvin Cemetery and visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. Mary Brammer

Dec. 31, 1930-Nov. 6, 2014

Mary Lou Brammer, 83, of Ironton, left her vacation here on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, to go home with her loved ones. Her new address is Heaven. The Oak Hill native was born Dec. 31, 1930, a daughter of the late Oscar Harrison and Mary Alice Canter Spriggs. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rowland Brammer, who passed away on May 20, 2010.

Mrs. Brammer was a graduate of Oak Hill High School and a homemaker. She was also a charter member of Freedom Baptist Church in Kitts Hill.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eight sisters, Frances (Porter) Hatten, Gladys (Orville) Rankins, Ruth (Ted) Dunnavant, Winifred (Edward) Beal, Virginia (Earl) Schwind, Opal Spriggs, Bernece Spriggs and Teressa Spriggs; and one brother, Gilbert Spriggs

She is leaving behind three sons, Ronald Brammer, David (Angela) Brammer and Ted Brammer, all of Ironton; six grandchildren, Byron Brammer, Andrew “Drew” Brammer, Alexis Brammer, Tyler Brammer and Michelle Brammer, all of Ironton, and Ashton Marie Brammer of Columbus; and two great grandchildren, Haley and Noah of Pine Grove.

Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in Woodland Cemetery with pastor Matt Dillon officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home. Phillip Meadows

Oct. 6, 1945-Nov. 5, 2014

Phillip Edward Meadows, 69, of Smithfield, Kentucky, formerly of Ashland, Kentucky, and Kitts Hill, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Baptist Hospital NE in La Grange, Kentucky.  He was born Oct. 6, 1945, in Hinton, West Virginia, a son of the late William E. Meadows and Rena L. Harford Meadows.  He was a retired heating and air conditioning technician and installer.  He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Sweeney Meadows; five children, Julie Diane Pate of Ironton, William Burke (Leslie) Meadows of Kitts Hill, Preston Michael Meadows of Louisville, Kentucky, Steve (Stacy) Miller of Beckley, West Virginia and Mason (Courtney) Miller of Ashland, Kentucky; three sisters, Dianna (Richard) Coleman of Sanford, North Carolina, Tammy White of Kitts Hill and Rachel (Deron) Russell of Kitts Hill; and 13 grandchildren.  Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with pastor Jim Byrd officiating.  Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetery, Kitts Hill.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Monday.  Slack and Wallace Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Phillip’s honor can be made to Baptist Health, La Grange Employee Assistance Program.  Condolences may be expressed at www.slackandwallace.com.

 

 

Raymond Breakiron

Raymond Ray Breakiron, 92, of Proctorville, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia.

Funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by pastor Rob Jones.  Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville.  Proctorville VFW Post 6878 will conduct military graveside rites.

Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Kenneth Fosson

Kenneth L. Fosson, 82, husband of Loretta Myers Fosson, died on Wednesday Nov. 5, 2014, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Interment will be at noon Monday at Rose Hill Burial Park with the Rev. T.J Azar officiating. Arrangements are by O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home.
