Softball tourney to benefit Robertson

The “Rocket Challenge” men’s slowpitch softball tournament will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, at the St. Cloud complex to raise money to help the Jon Robertson family to cover costs in his fight against esophageal cancer.

Entry fee is $135 and teams must hit their own .44 core 400-pound compression. The home runs will be three and progressive from there. Teams are guaranteed at least three games.

Robertson — known as the Rocket — and his son played for Huntington High School where he is an assistant baseball coach but also works with youths in other sports as well.

 

SOC girls’ basketball

preview set Nov. 21

The Southern Ohio Conference will holds its annual girls’ basketball preview Friday, Nov. 21, at Portsmouth Clay High School.

Admission is $5. Here is the schedule:

5 p.m. — Ports. Clay vs. Ports. West; 5:40 — Sciotoville East vs. Waverly; 6:20 p.m. — Western vs. Minford; 7 p.m. — Symmes Valley vs. Wheelersburg; 7:40 p.m. — Green vs. Lucasville Valley; 8:20 p.m. — Ports. Notre Dame vs. Oak Hill; 9 p.m. — New Boston vs. Northwest; 9:40 p.m. — Eastern vs. South Webster.

 

Chesapeake LL baseball

sets early registration

The Chesapeake Little League will conduct an early baseball registration from 10 am. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the elementary and middle schools.

Youths must present three proofs of residence and an original birth certificate. Fee is $40 for the first child, $30 for a second child and $20 for a third child.
