CHESAPEAKE — The Chesapeake Lady Panthers used the pass to get past the South Point Lady Pointers.
“Once we settled down and started passing the ball a little better, we got some easy transition baskets,” said Lady Panthers’ coach Chris Ball after his team beat the Lady Pointers 49-34 Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
“We did a lot better job with our perimeter defense. We controlled the boards, but we had a size advantage so we expected that.”
The rebounding was led by Kaylee Curry with 13 boards. Natalie Hall grabbed 9 rebounds and Sydnee Hall had 7.
Offensively, Curry scored 21 points and Sydnee Hall had 14 points including 8 of 11 at the line and handed out 5 assists.
“Kaylee Curry played well under the basket and she stepped outside and hit s few shots,” said Ball.
“Sydnee Hall played well again. We got a good game from Natalie Hall. She didn’t score a lot, but she played hard and made things happen for us.”
Abbey Winkler scored 11 points to lead South Point (0-2, 0-2).
Winkler got 4 points in the first quarter and it was 8-8.
Sydnee Hall scored 8 points in the second quarter as Chesapeake (2-0, 1-0) took a 19-13 halftime lead.
Curry poured in 10 points in the third quarter as the Lady Panthers pulled away to a 43-21 lead.
“We improved from game one to game two and we hope to go on. I was impressed with Winkler. She has a nice offensive game,” said Ball.
