The only consistent thing about the St. Joseph Female Flyers right now is their winning.

That suits head coach Nick Miller just fine.

Despite their up and down play, the Female Flyers got past the Rock Hill Redwomen 54-46 on Thursday.

“Our consistency isn’t very good. We can score 24 one quarter and then the next quarter we score seven. But we’re 2-0 so that’s a good thing. Hopefully we’ll work it out,” said Miller.

Amber Neal had 18 points while Hannah Miller scored 15 points to pace St. Joseph (2-0). Bri Bridges scored 9 points and Lynsey Booker had 8.

Anna Darby had 18 points and 19 rebounds while Kaci Russell added 11 points for the Redwomen (1-1). Samantha Dillon added 8 points and 6 rebounds.

“We got a little better tonight. We controlled the boards and played well except we had poor shot selection at the end,” said Redwomen coach Greg Damron.

Coach Miller echoed Damron’s sentiments.

“They really competed and played well. Darby had a nice game inside. They’re improved over last year,” said coach Miller.

Darby and Dillon combined for 9 points in the first quarter as Rock Hill took a 13-10 lead.

But St. Joseph erupted for 24 points in the second quarter to take a 34-22 lead at the break.

Miller scored 9 points, Neal had 7 and Lynsey Booker got 6 in the quarter to help take the lead for good.

Rock Hill cut the deficit to 41-35 at the end of the third quarter and got within two points with two minutes to play as Darby scored 9 points in the fourth quarter, but Bridges had 5 points and Neal scored 4 as the Female Flyers pulled away.
