When a child looks outside or in the garage at home and sees their bike, the world seems to be directly in their sights.

It is their vehicle that can take them anywhere they want to go, whether it is just down the block or on an excursion on a bike trail.

That is the one of the goals of the organizers of the Lawrence County Bicycle Giveaway along with helping provide something special for a child during the holiday season.

Although the group of organizers may be small, it definitely takes a large effort to put this event on each year.

We applaud all those involved for their effort and determination to help others in our communities, as it takes several facets that include volunteers and businesses to make this program work each year.

One of the many things that makes Lawrence County and the region special, however, is that the holiday season is not the only time of the year that events are held to help others.

Please remember, it doesn’t have to be from a monetary standpoint, but as simple as donating time to an event or cause.

Ultimately, this event and many others throughout the county and region is something that can make a big difference in someone else’s life.
