The Herd will hold a two-day Holiday Youth Academy for youth players ages 6-14, and a high school Elite Prospect Camp for grades 9-12.

The Youth Academy is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 29-30, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Elite Prospect Camp will be held on Saturday, Jan. 10, and will feature a morning and afternoon sessions.

Interested persons should contact Marshall assistant coach Brian Karlett or the baseball office at (304) 696-3789 or fax (304) 696-2325.

The Academy will help teach valuable life skills as well as provide baseball instruction. The clinic will consist of skill-specific coaching, including baserunning, hitting, fielding, pitching, and strength training.

The Prospect camp will feature a morning session of instruction for pitchers and catchers. The pitching portion will be led by former Major League pitcher and current Herd coach Josh Newman and will cover areas such as mechanical drills, weight training, bullpen and long- toss routines, and arm care.

The afternoon session of the prospect camp will be devoted to teach baseball fundamentals exclusively. A great deal of instruction and individual attention will be given to each camper to assist him in developing sound technique in hitting, bunting, fielding, throwing, and base-running.

Both camps will be held in Marshall’s new state-of-the-art Chris Cline Athletic Complex’s indoor facility. The facility features a full 100-yard football field, batting cages, and portable mounds.
