PROCTORIVLLE — Reindeer aren’t the only thing flying at Christmas time.

The shots were flying from up high as the Fairland Lady Dragons made 11 3-point goals en route to an 83-48 win over the Portsmouth Lady Trojans on Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Five different players connected from behind the arc including four by Caitlin Stone and three by Emily Chapman.

“I’ve never coached a team that has made 11 3-pointers,” said Fairland coach Jon Buchanan. “We played well and we shot it great. Defensively we never let them get in the flow.”

Stone had 16 points and Chapman scored a career-high 15. Kelsey Riley scored 14 points and 12 different players scored for Fairland (4-3, 3-1).

Peighton Williams had 14 points — 10 in the fourth quarter — and Semajah Parker 12 points to lead Portsmouth (0-8, 0-5).

Chapman scored 10 points as Fairland raced to a 29-6 first quarter lead.

Stone scored 10 points and Chapman 8 in the second quarter — both players made two 3-pointers — as the Lady Dragons built an insurmountable 60-16 halftime cushion.

Fairland’s starters and top players combined for only 5 points in the second half as Buchanan emptied his bench.

The Lady Dragons visit Rock Hill on Thursday in an OVC game.
