Redwomen fall to fast-starting Falcons

NEW BOSTON — A fast start was all the Minford Lady Falcons needed.
Minford jumped out to a 31-15 first-half lead and went on to beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 56-35 on Monday in the New Boston Holiday Tournament.
Erin Daniels scored 13 points — all in the first half — to get the Lady Falcons off to a good starter.
Rock Hill was plagued by 25 turnovers.
The Redwomen cut the deficit to 39-27 after three quarters, but Minford outscored Rock Hill 17-8 in the fourth quarter to pull away to the win.
Anna Darby had 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead Rock Hill. Samanatha Dillon added 7 points and Jill Hairston 6.
Rock Hill was missing leading scorer Kaci Russell who was out with an illness.
Ali Hammond also scored 13 points for the Lady Falcons.
Rock Hill will play on Saturday in the second round of the tournament.
