Fast start propels Chesapeake by Gallipolis, 56-45

CHESAPEAKE — Maybe it is really how you start and now how you finish.\The Chesapeake Panthers started fast and were never headed as they beat the Gallipolis Blue Devils 56-45 Tuesday.

Gage Rhoades had a game-high 22 points to lead the unbeaten Panthers (6-0). Brad Meadows scored 13 points and Aaron Thompson added 10.

Alex White had 14 points to pace Gallipolis (1-7). Trevor McNeal and Wes Jarrell added 9 points each.

The Panthers held Gallipolis to 4 points in the first quarter in taking a commanding 20-4 lead. Rhoades and Meadows scored 6 points each to spark the fast start.

White had 8 points in the second quarter as Gallipolis cut the deficit to 33-18 at the half.

Rhoades got hot from beyond the arc in the third quarter with three trifectas as the Panthers took a 47-31 lead. Mike Putney had all 5 of his points in the quarter for Gallipolis.

Both teams scored 9 points in the fourth quarter.
