As the year winds down, New Year’s Day means some businesses and government offices will be closed, but not as many as were for Christmas. Here is a listing of some of those closing and what will be open on Jan. 1

• Government offices will be closed including the Lawrence County Courthouse and town halls for Chesapeake, South Point and Proctorville. Those offices will open on Monday, Jan. 5.

• Post office lobbies will be open, but there will be no mail delivery that day. Delivery and counter service will resume on Jan. 2.
