CHESAPEAKE — The good news for Chesapeake fans is their team played better. The bad news for Chesapeake opponents is the Panthers are playing better.

The Panthers came into Tuesday’s game unbeaten and left the same way as they routed the Meigs Marauders 62-38.

“We played al little more consistently for the whole ball game. We started to go bad but straightened it up,” said Chesapeake coach Ryan Davis.

“Nate Smith scored two points but he played a great game. He was dominating in what he did.”

Two other players who gave dominating performances were Gage Rhoades and Brad Meadows.

Rhoades hit five 3-pointers as he scored 21 points and Meadows had 19 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.

Jaxon Meadows scored 10 points to lead Meigs (2-5).

Rhoades scored 11 points as Chesapeake took a 17-11 first quarter lead.

The defense held Meigs to 6 points in the second quarter as the lead grew to 32-17.

Meadows had 11 points in the third quarter as the Panthers extended the lead to 53-29.

The Panthers host Portsmouth next Tuesday in a pivotal Ohio Valley Conference game.
