Herd falls to Akron

AKRON (AP) — Pat Forsythe had 13 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks as Akron pushed past Marshall for a 70-63 victory on Tuesday night.

Noah Robotham finished with 13 points, Reggie McAdams added 12 and Deji Ibitayo had 11 for the Zips (8-4), who shot just 35.9 percent from the field but hit 12 3-pointers and had 20 second-chance points. Forsythe pulled down seven of Akron’s 18 offensive rebounds and Robotham had four steals.

Akron used a 15-7 run sparked by two 3-pointers from McAdams and another from Nyles Evans to make it 58-46 with 8:22 remaining. Marshall (4-9) clawed back to pull within three twice in the final minutes, but Ibitayo hit a 3-pointer, Forsythe made a layup, and Robotham added a layup and four late free throws to seal it.

Austin Loop led the Thundering Herd with 16 points and Ryan Taylor had 15 on 5-of-6 shooting.
