Paul Wilks

Feb. 16, 1951 — Dec. 30, 2014

 

Paul L. Wilks Sr., 63, of Chesapeake, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, in Veterans Administration Medical Center in Huntington. Paul was born Feb. 16, 1951, in Huntington, a son of the late Harry Clayton and Kathleen G. Singer Wilks.

He was a retired supervisor with the village of Chesapeake and a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Pam Cremeans Spurlock; one sister, Janet Hix; and one brother, Harry Lee Wilks, Sr.

Paul is survived by his wife, Mary Bevans Wilks; five sons, Douglas “Bubby” (Andrea) Cremeans, Paul L. (Debra) Wilks Jr., Leslie Wilks, Ronnie (Elizabeth) Cremeans, and Craig (Dawn) Cremeans; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon Adkins and Marcia (Ray) Smoot; two brothers, Roger Clayton (Debbie) Wilks and Michael Ray Wilks; and a host of nieces and nephews.

At Paul’s request, there will be no visitation. The family invites you to a Celebration of Life Dinner at 5 p.m. today at Rockwood Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you bring a covered dish or make a contribution to the Disabled American Veterans in Paul’s memory.

Eugene Quarles

Eugene I. Quarles Sr., 95, of Ironton, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Damion Sneed officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
