SOUTH POINT — The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers figured out a way to score some points with their coach: score points.

The Lady Tigers had their biggest offensive output of the season as they beat the South Point Lady Pointers 74-52 on Monday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Lexie Barrier poured in 32 points to lead Ironton (7-2, 5-0). However, D’Laynie Keith made an impression on head coach Doug Graham as she scored a career-high 18 points and Sydney Webb continued her strong shooting with 13 points.

Keith got some extended playing with starters Taylor Hannan and Cheyenne Scott out with injuries.

“We shot the ball well. We were aggressive and moved the ball. Sydney and Lexie had some awesome passes,” said Graham.

“D’Laynie is really good at going to the basket and she has a knack for being around ball. Sydney played well and Barrier was on her game. She was aggressive.”

South Point (2-9, 1-4) was led by Haley Rawlins with 19 points and Abbey Winkler added 13.

Webb drained three trifectas in the first quarter as Ironton built a 23-13 lead.

Barrier scored 12 in the second quarter including a pair of treys as Ironton stretched its lead to 45-28. Winkler had 7 points for South Point in the quarter.

Barrier had 10 more in the third quarter as the Lady Tigers opened up a 63-41 cushion.

Keith had 6 points in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter as Graham began to empty his bench.

Rawlins scored 8 points in the quarter and the Lady Pointers converted 7 of 14 from the foul line.

On Thursday, Ironton hosts Coal Grove while South Point visits Rock Hill.
