RACELAND, Ky. — There’s one reason whey the St. Joseph Female Flyers lost their first game of the season.
The Female Flyers.
St. Joseph head coach Nick Miller said his team had no one to blame but themselves as they fell 52-45 to the Raceland Lady Rams on Monday.
“We didn’t play well,” said Miller. “We were right there with a chance to win, but we missed a lot of shots and had a lot of turnovers.”
Hannah Miller scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Female Flyers (9-1). Amber Neal added 9 points and Lynsey Booker scored 7.
Raceland (7-6) was led by Krystal Keeton and Savannah Mackie with 12 points each as nine different players scored. The Rams also converted 16 of 24 free throws.
“Raceland did a nice job. They had balanced scoring and rebounded well. They have some experience and they have depth. Hopefully, we’ll bounce back,” said Miller.
St. Joseph trailed 7-5 at the end of the first quarter but stormed back to take a 22-17 halftime lead.
Raceland then took control in the third quarter by outscoring St. Joseph 19-10 to go up 36-33 and then outscored the Female Flyers 16-12 in the fourth quarter.
The Female Flyers play at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Huntington (W.Va.) St. Joseph.
