CHESAPEAKE — The Fairland Lady Dragons beat the Chesapeake Lady Panthers at their own game.

They also beat them in the game as the Lady Dragons down the Lady Panthers 60-29 on Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Fairland had 14 offensive rebounds to eight for Chesapeake, usually a strong suit for the Lady Panthers.

Chesapeake was also guilty of 29 turnovers.

“We felt we had to at least match their offensive rebounding. That’s a big part of their offense,” said Fairland coach Jon Buchanan.

“They had a hard time with our pressure. We were worried about how to guard (Kaylee) Curry, but we did a pretty good job on her.”

Caitlin Stone scored 20 points including four 3-pointers and also had 6 assists and 6 steals to lead the Lady Dragons (7-3, 5-1).

Mackenzie Riley had 11 points and 8 rebounds, Kelsey Riley 7 points and 11 rebounds, Jenna Fulks 9 points and 7 rebounds for Fairland.

Kaylee Curry had 12 points for Chesapeake (6-4, 2-4).

“We didn’t play well, but Fairland had a lot to do with that,” said Chesapeake coach Chris Ball.

Fairland led 11-6 at the end of the first quarter. Kelsey Riley then scored 6 points in the second quarter as Fairland extended its lead to 22-12 at the half.

Stone and Emily Chapman each hit 3-pointers and Mackenzie Riley had a layup as Fairland jumped on the Panthers to start the third quarter.
