CHESAPEAKE — Hangover 3.

Coming off a tough 68-60 loss on Friday against Portsmouth, the Fairland Dragons were faced with trying to get motivated for Saturday’s Beast of the Southeast game with the Eastern Brown Warriors.

The Dragons showed signs of a hangover early but caught fire and went on to beat the Warriors 58-41.

“We had a little bit of a hangover from (Friday), but then we started to pick it up and Chance (Short) held us together and Gunner (Short) made a big defense play that turned the momentum,” said Fairland coach Nathan Speed.

Chance Short scored 17 points including 16 in the second half to lead the Dragons (8-2). Nathan Campbell had 8 points and 6 rebounds and Tyler Campbell had 7 points and 4 rebounds.

Macus Day scored 10 points for the Warriors (1-8).

The affects of Friday showed as the score was tied 5-5 after the first quarter.

Gunner Short then drew a charge to swing the momentum and he scored 4 points as Fairland went up 20-15 at the half.

Chance Short scored 7 points in the third quarter as Fairland extended the lead to 38-29.

The Dragons senior trio of Chance Short, Nathan Campbell and Tyler Campbell then accounted for 18 of their 20 fourth quarter points as they began to pull away.

Short scored 9, Nathan Campbell 5 and Tyler Campbell 4.
