Oakie Haynes

March 30, 1948 — Jan. 9, 2015

 

Oakie Haynes, 66, of Kitts Hill, passed away Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at his residence. The Lawrence County native was born March 30, 1948, son of the late George Haynes and Aretta Valentine. Oakie is survived by his wife of 20 years, Celia Haynes.

He retired from Ironton Iron after 32 years of service. Oakie enjoyed fishing and spending time with his kids and grandkids, he enjoyed the outdoors and bird watching any animals. He was kind-hearted and a gentleman. Oakie attended Hanging Rock Schools and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, Oakie is preceded in death by three brothers, George Haynes, Arlie Haynes and Alvie Haynes; and five sisters, Floreen Bailey, Corrine Logsdon, Juanita Mullens, Alfreda Ritchea, and Diane Spillman.

In addition to his wife, Oakey is survived by a daughter, Leah Daniels; two sons, Oakie S. Haynes Jr. and Billy Haynes; three stepdaughters, Lisa Fradd, Jamie Malone and Bobbi Hogston; three stepsons, Larry Henry, Scott Henry and Michael Hale; two sisters, Charlotte Botkins and Rosalie Bailey; two brothers, Homer Haynes and Jimmy Kelly; 25 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Leatherwood Cemetery with brother Kenny Waller officiating and visitation will be from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. James Wylie

James P. Wylie, 87, of Ironton died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, at the Jo-Lin Health Center. Arrangements are pending at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home.

 

 

Carl Leffingwell

Carl E. Leffingwell, 69, of Proctorville, died Friday Jan. 9, 2015, at home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville by pastor Tom Jones. Kenny Gillispie

Kenny Gillespie, 70, of Coal Grove, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at the VA Medical Center in Huntington. A memorial service will be at noon on Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville. Family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Betty Childers

Betty F. Childers, 85, of South Point, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, at River’s Bend Health Care in South Point. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Childers. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

 

 

Raymond Moore

Raymond E. Moore, 43, of Scottown, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at River’s Bend Health Care in South Point. Graveside service is 11 a.m. today at Rome Cemetery. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville is in charge of arrangements.
