ILL baseball, softball

registrations set

The Board of Directors of the Ironton National Little League have set registration dates for the 2015 baseball/softball season for boys and girls ages 4-18.

Registration will be held from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 24 and 31; and 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5; all at the Ironton Middle School.

Registrants must show three separate proofs of residence within the league boundary or proof of school attendance within the league boundary and present an original proof of age document such as a birth certificate.

Applications for managers, moaches, umpires and volunteers will also be accepted. Contact a League Board Member for further information.

RH youth cheer group taking applications

The Rock Hill Youth Cheer Association is accepting applications for anyone interested in coaching for the upcoming season.

Applications will be available at Giovanni’s Pizza in Ironton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16.

Voting on coaches will be conducted that evening. Individuals with the most votes will be contacted.

 

SVLL football plans meeting for Jan. 18

The Symmes Valley biddy league football will conduct a meeting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18, at the high school for the purpose of electing officers.

 

Baseball & softball umpire class offered

The Ironton Chapter of high school baseball and softball umpires — in conjunction with the Ohio High School Athletic Association — will offer the OHSAA approved umpiring course for baseball and softball starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, at Chesapeake Middle School.

Class fee is $140 for baseball and $140 for softball. The class will consist of rule interpretation, mechanics, umpiring basics and on-field scrimmages.
