Lawrence County dog tags for 2015 are on sale until Jan. 31. After that date, a state-imposed penalty will apply. Dog owners are required by state law to purchase tags even if the dog lives primarily inside.

Money from the sale of dog tags is used to fund the county dog shelter and helps defray costs of controlling the population of stray, homeless and vicious dogs in the county.

Tags are available at the following locations: the Lawrence County Dog Shelter, 1302 Adams Lane in Ironton; the Lawrence County Auditor’s Office, 111 S. Fourth St. in Ironton; Moore’s Hardware, 8055 County Road 7 in Proctorville; Dickess Market 13629 State Route 141 in Kitts Hill; and Tiptons’ Market, 6266 State Route 93 in Ironton.
