PEDRO — If Jake Falls can shoot that well with a bad wrist, maybe Rock Hill coach Dave Hopper should break it before the next game.

Despite a sore wrist, Falls scored a career-high 22 points as the Redmen beat the South Point Pointers 57-46 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“Jake had some ice on it in the locker room and I asked him what was wrong. He said it had been hurting him so I told him if he couldn’t’ shoot to do everything else that he could because we needed him,” said Hopper.

“That was a heck of an effort by Falls. And Nathan Turvey only had two points but he played a great game.”

Austin Collins scored 18 points for the Redmen (4-8, 1-5) while Trystan Matney added 8 points.

Brady Rickard scored 20 points, Alex Whitt hit four 3-pointers four 12 points and Ryan Gibson added 8 points to lead the Pointers (2-9, 1-5).

Collins and Falls combined for 9 points as Rock Hill took an 11-10 first quarter lead. Rickard had 6 points in the quarter.

Whitt made all four of his 3-pointers in the second quarter as South Point took a 26-24 halftime lead.

Faills scored 9 points in the third quarter as Rock Hill cut the deficit to 36-35. Rickard had 8 points for the Pointers.

But Collins scored 9 points — he was 5 of 7 from the foul line — and Falls had 7 more points as Rock Hill rallied for the win. Gibson and Rickard scored 4 points each for South Point.

“We’re playing the way I’ve been preaching. It’s finally kicked in. Instead of grinding it out, we’re moving the ball and getting good shots,” said Hopper.

On Tuesday, Rock Hill visits Fairland while South Point travels to Coal Grove in league games.
