PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Dragons like doing their impersonation of a drag racer: start fast and make quick work of their opponents.

The Lady Dragons jumped out to a big early yet again and cruised to a 64-42 Ohio Valley Conference win Thursday over the South Point Lady Pointers.

“We got out to an early lead and then we controlled the game after that,” said Fairland coach Jon Buchanan.

“We were able to play a lot of people and get some experience for our younger players. We’ve had three games in four days and we play Saturday, so it was nice to rest some of our starters.”

Fairland hosts No. 8-ranked Wheelersburg on Saturday.

The Lady Dragons are now 12-3 overall and 9-1 in the OVC. South Point falls to 4-11 and 3-6.

Jenna Fulks scored a career-high 18 points to lead Fairland. Caitlyn Stone hit four 3-pointers and scored 14 points and Mackenzie Riley also scored 14 in the win.

Madison Kearns had 9 points while Abby Hannah and Brooklyn Badgett added 8 each for South Point (4-11, 3-6).

Riley had 8 points and Fulks 7 points in the first quarter as Fairland jumped ahead 20-4.

Stone knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter as the Lady Dragons extended the lead to 37-17 at the half. Haley Rawlins had all 6 of her points in the quarter for the Lady Pointers.

Fairland opened up a 54-26 lead after three quarters.
