HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — Ryan Taylor scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Marshall to a 69-54 victory over Southern Mississippi on Thursday night.

Marshall scored the first nine points and built a 35-25 halftime lead. The Thundering Herd stretched their lead to 50-35 midway through the second. Taylor’s four straight points gave Marshall a 20-point lead with 4:21 to play.

Taylor shot 6 of 9 from the floor, Austin Loop had 13 points and Justin Edmonds chipped in 11 for Marshall (6-15, 2-6 Conference USA), which has won two straight since snapping a nine-game losing streak.

Matt Bingaya scored 19 points on 6-of-15 shooting to lead Southern Miss (6-13, 1-7). Chip Armelin scored 16 points and Norville Carey had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Golden Eagles, who shot just 2 of 17 (12 percent) from 3-point range.
