PEDRO — Austin Collins was having a really good game. There wasn’t anything that could make it even better.

Or was there?

Collins not only scored 29 points but eclipsed the 1,000-point career scoring mark as the Rock Hill Redmen blitzed the Green Bobcats 69-34 on Saturday.

“Austin played really well and had a great team,” said Rock Hill coach Dave Hopper. “But we played well as a team. We stepped up and played well from start to finish.”

Rock Hill (6-12) also got 10 points from Austin Barcus and Trystan Matney added 8 points.

Mark Allen scored 11 points and Ryan Gaffney 9 points to lead Green.

Collins scored 11 points in the first quarter as Rock Hill took a 15-10 lead.

In the second quarter, Collins scored 9 points including a free throw that gave him the milestone 1,000th point. He came into the game needing 18 points to reach the lofty plateau.

Nathan Turvey hit a pair of 3-pointers and Matney also had 6 points in the quarter as Rock Hill took a 39-19 lead at the half.

Gaffney had 7 points in the quarter for Green.

Barcus scored 8 points in the third quarter as Rock Hill extended the lead to 59-29.

The Redmen visit Minford on Tuesday for a non-league game.
