Helen Reynolds

Oct. 6, 1928 — Jan. 31, 2015

 

Helen C. Reynolds, 86, of Coal Grove, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. She was born Oct. 6, 1928, in Greenup, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Stewart and Rinda Baldwin Stewart; her husband, James G. Reynolds; a son, James “Bo” Reynolds; a grandson, Nathan Colley; a granddaughter, Katlyn Reynolds; two sisters, Margie Moore and Gertrude Salyers; and four brothers, Jack, Ray, Claude and Frank Stewart Jr.

Survivors include five children, Shirley Reynolds, Christy Reynolds, Sharon Colley, Gary Reynolds and Roger Reynolds; 11 grandchildren, Tammy Colley, Samantha Browning, Amanda Reynolds, Joey Reynolds, Danny Reynolds, Davey Reynolds, April Owens, Mark Click, Jamey Reynolds, Telisa Perkins and Roger Dale Reynolds; and 13 great-grandchildren, Brandon Colley, Ashley Colley, Ethan Reynolds, James Reynolds, Levi Star, Sammi Star, Anna Reynolds, Taylor Reynolds, Alexis Perkins, Kadem Perkins, Canon Perkins, Carter Perkins and Derrick Owens.

Elven Harvey

Jan. 30, 1918 — Jan. 28, 2015

 

The Rev. Elven Ford Harvey, 96, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. He was born Jan. 30, 1918, in Rustburg, Virginia, to the late Silas and Mary Mickles Harvey. He was the husband of the late Evelyn Merchant Harvey.

He was a Baptist minister and was pastor of several churches in the Ironton area as well as churches in the Rustburg, Virginia, area. He was a retiree of Armco Steel Ashland Works.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn Frances Howard; brothers Robert Harvey, George Harvey and Roshie Mickles; one grandson, Edward Harvey; and one great-grandson, Jeff McConnell Jr.

He is survived by daughters, Mary Ellen Williams, of Huntington, West Virginia, and Rosemarie (Lloyd) Kavanaugh, of Ironton; sons Elven (Gayle) Harvey Jr., of Taos, New Mexico, Lewis Edward (Marcella) Harvey, of Burlington, and the Rev. Ronald Lee Harvey, of Kissimmee, Florida; and 16 grandchildren.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward Buffington officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Burlington 37 Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Community Hospice of Ashland 1538 Central Ave. Ashland, KY 41101.

 

 

Sandra Hill

Sandra Marie Hill, 57, of South Point, wife of George Hill Jr., died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015. A memorial service will take place at a later date. Raphiel Smoot

Raphiel “Ray” Smoot, 75, of Chesapeake, husband of Marcia Wilks Smoot, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at home. Arrangements are pending at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point.
