Where’d that brick wall come from?

Locked in a close, tough game with Portsmouth Clay, the St. Joseph Flyers’ offense ran into a brick wall and couldn’t score in the fourth quarter as the Panthers pulled away to a 57-42 win on Wednesday.

Clay led just 39-35 after three quarters, but outscored the Flyers 18-7 in the fourth quarter.

Clay — the Southern Ohio Conference leaders — avenged an earlier loss to St. Joseph. The Flyers won the season opener 51-37 at Clay.

Wulf Goheen had 12 points to lead the Flyers (9-9).

The Panthers (15-4) hit eight 3-pointer goals including six by Nate Hinze who scored 24 points. Aaron Phillips had 14 points and Cole Gilliland 13.

The Flyers play at Symmes Valley on Saturday.
