IRONTON — One quarter was all it took.

The Oak Hill Lady Oaks made a big first quarter lead stand up as they beat the South Point Lady Pointers 47-40 on Saturday in the Tackett’s Body Shop Shootout.

Oak Hill built a 17-6 first quarter lead and it was 28-16 at the half.

South Point outscored the Lady Oaks 24-19 in the second half but couldn’t overcome the early deficit.

Abbey Winkler had 13 points and seven steals to lead the Lady Pointers (4-15). Brooklyn Badgett added 9 points while Leah Lawson had nine rebounds and Haley Rawlins grabbed seven.

Oak Hill (12-9) had three players in double figures led by Abby Haislop with 16 points, five rebounds and three steals.

Mykala Cade had 14 points and Merrill Melvin added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Cade had nine rebounds.

South Point hosts Rock Hill on Monday.
