NEW BOSTON — It was like a game of lost and found. In a game the Rock Hill Redwomen should have lost, they found a way to win.
The Redwomen overcame a sub-par performance to beat the New Boston Lady Tigers 51-46 on Wednesday.
“We shot 25 percent from the field and didn’t play that well. When you shoot 25 percent, you shouldn’t win, but to the girls’ credit, we found a way to win,” said Rock Hill coach Greg Damron.
Kaci Russell had 14 points and nine rebounds while Anna Darby got 10 points and nine rebounds to lead the Redwomen (8-14).
Kyleigh Noel came off the bench to score 8 points, Madison Damron added 7 points while Jill Hairston and Samantha Dillon got 6 points each.
“Kyleigh came in and gave us some good minutes and a spark,” said coach Damron.
Ali Hamilton scored 18 points and Mariah Buckley 11 to lead New Boston.
Rock Hill jumped out to a 12-5 first quarter lead but New Boston closed the gap to 22-19 at the half.
The Lady Tigers cut the deficit to 33-32 after three quarters, but Kyleigh Noel scored 5 points and the Redwomen converted 6-of-10 at the line in the fourth quarter.
Rock Hill plays Adena at 8 p.m. next Wednesday at Lucasville Valley High School in the Division III sectional tournament.
