WAYNE, W.Va. — The momentum is still going.

The Lady Panthers won their third in a row as they cruised past the Wayne Lady Pioneers 39-18 on Saturday and head for the postseason in a positive fashion.

Chesapeake (13-9) will now play Oak Hill at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday at Rock Hill in the Division III sectional tournament.

“We came out and jumped out to a big lead and then we relaxed,” said Chesapeake coach Chris Ball.

“We regrouped at the half and came out and played better in the third quarter. Wayne has improved this year, so it’s a good win and it’s a good to win on the road.”

Kaylee Curry scored 6 points and Sydnee Hall 5 more as Chesapeake jumped out to a 14-2 first quarter lead.

The scoring slowed to a crawl in the second quarter as Wayne out-scored the Lady Panthers 6-2 and it was 16-8 at the half.

But Hall had 4 points in the third quarter and the defense limited Wayne to just 2 points as the lead grew to 27-10.

Natalee Hall was 5-of-9 from the line in the fourth quarter as Chesapeake sealed the win. Kaitlyn Arnold had half of Wayne’s 8 points in the fourth quarter.

Curry had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds to lead Chesapeake. She also blocked three shots.

Sydnee Hall finished with 11 points, five rebounds and three steals. Atiya Spaulding had six rebounds and Natalee Hall handed out three assists.

Arnold had 7 points for Wayne (11-11).
