The Gospel of John is the focus of this Lenten season’s lunch and a lesson starting this Wednesday at noon at First United Methodist Church in Ironton.

The theme for the seven lessons comes from the Gospel of John.

“We will be looking more closely at the words Jesus chose to describe his importance to us in the ‘I Am’ sayings of John,” according to the Rev. Wayne Young.

Lunch will be served at noon with the lesson by Young at 12:30 p.m.

The ‘I Am’ theme continues with the Sunday morning worship with sermons taken from the texts of Mark, Genesis, Exodus, Ephesians and John. Those will start at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

“Sunday morning worship services will maintain our ‘I Am’ focus as we consider God’s character in events in which ‘I Am’ plays a prominent part,” Young said.

Sunday evening services will use the DVD of Rob Fuquay’s “The God We Can Know.” Fuquay is senior pastor at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.

Services start at 6 p.m.
